This weekend my new computer arrived. A Dell XPS 9000 system with 23 inch monitor. It is simply awesome.

Pallus Athena

Pallus Athena, graphite and pen

I worked on this sketch today – totally came unexpected. The human figure can still be much improved though I am deeply satisfied with this outcome for today. ADR

Gorgon Medusa

Gorgon Medusa

Late last night, my fiance and I were woken up by our son – who came in the bedroom telling us he was afraid of afterschool. He went to the bathroom and when he came out we called out to him and he said that he was afraid of something else entirely (“the lights”) and then left leaving us puzzled about the whole event. I remember staying up for a bit before falling to back to sleep. When I woke up this morning, I heard the sound of raindrops hitting the house outside. I felt very warm, comfortable laying underneath the covers. My body was tingling because of it, though that might seem ridiculous. Throughout the night, I dreamt about N.H. (psuedonym) with a reddish wig…I was trying to constantly see how much she changed from what I could remember. She still had her dimples. She was in my class on mathematics in the dream. I recall being taught over and over again about finding angles of the circle and right triangles. This has been the third time N.H. has been in my dreams this month.

My apologies for not having posted in awhile. I’ve been busy with sketching and drawing and working and rendering with pen and ink. I seem to shift back and forth to one project to another. I feel very excited and motivated. In fact I feel very much vigorated in the work I am doing now. I feel a bit more confident in what I am doing and that maybe perhaps I am satisfied for once of what I am doing.

I have been working on a portrait headshot of Medusa, one of the Gorgons from Greek mythology. This portait of the Gorgon will actually be used as a study for another project I have in mind. This also gives me practice to work with pen and ink renderings.

I’ve also started research on the works and art of Michaelangelo and Bernini.

I am currently digging the following:

“Last Letter” by One Day As A Lion
“Le nozze di Figaro” from the Opera Album
